Motorola Aura Diamond Edition

Sure, a £3,500 Motorola phone. Sounds good to me.

Most people have a limit on how much they are willing to spend for a phone. However, those without a limit may want to check out the Motorola Aura Diamond Edition. The Motorola Aura Diamond Edition is one of the most stylish phones on the market and offers those who can afford it a lot of glitz and glamour. The phone has 18 carat gold plating and 34 encrusted diamonds. Thirty of the diamonds found on the Motorola Aura Diamond Edition are embedded around the circular display. To make sure that the phone continues to hold it’s luxurious look, the display screen is scratch-resistant. Some of the features include stereo Bluetooth, music and video player, 2 megapixel camera, GSM/EDGE connectivity, support of CrystalTalk technology and 2 GB of internal memory. The phone is also capable of checking email or browsing the web. The Motorola Aura Diamond Edition is very likely to be one of the most expensive phones ever created and is the personification of pure luxury. The mobile phone retails for about $5700.

There is also a less expensive edition of the phone that comes in silver. Although the silver version is significantly cheaper, it pales in comparison to the Diamond Edition. The luxury phone isn’t for every consumer, but those that actually purchase the Motorola Aura Diamond Edition can be sure they will be one of the select few to own the mobile phone. Let’s be honest for a second here: unless we’re talking about the Motorola Droid, which should be on Verizon Wireless within a few weeks, we might as well not be talking about Motorola. It’d be like talking about Real Madrid and only mentioning Granero or Drenthe and not Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaká. (Good, making references that all of 11 people will understand.)

But we’re going to that such a thing right now in talking about the Motorola Aura Diamond Edition. It’s £3,500, which converts to, roughly, $5,700. Yeah… Why is this thing so darn expensive? For whatever reason Motorolla has sprinkled it with some 30+ diamonds, and coated it in 18 carat gold. Now the question becomes why Motorola would ever do such a thing? Does Motorola makes phones exclusively for Goldman Sachs these days? Maybe, I don’t know. It goes on sale on October 26, at least in the UK. But then again, if you’re the type of person who can afford this, you’ve probably already got it on pre-order.Man, it’s cold. Let’s burn some £100 notes to keep warm.

The World’s Slimmest LCD TV

The World’s Slimmest LCD TV - Samsung Needle Slim - Amazing Gadgets

Samsung Needle Slim is a 3mm thin 40” Full HD LED Backlight TV. It features a 120Hz LCD panel and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. Just being shown, not released yet, maybe they still working on something. Samsung have revealed their latest LCD TV the Samsung Needle Slim. The LCD screen measures 40″ which is nothing to brag about really, but what Samsung can brag about is the TV measuring just 3mm thick. The screen it’s self is capable of a full HD resolution refreshed at 120Hz. We normally expect to see news at this time of the year held off to CES early in the new year, but with this achievement it seems Samsung just couldn’t keep quiet any longer.

Other technical specs include a contrast ratio of 5,000:1. It is unclear when this screen will come out soon and what the price will be, but I suspect it will be at the higher end of the price scale for a while till ultra thin TV’s become more common place. Samsung Electronics recently announced their newest product, the Needle Slim LCD television. It is a 40-inch LCD TV which is only 3.9mm thick, making it the thinnest television on the market. To visualize how thin this television is, imagine the thickness of 2 of Korea's 500 Won coins. Because of the television's thickness, it is named the Needle Slim.

Samsung Electronics' previous slimmest television was 10.8mm, making this television 3 times thinner. Samsung created this thin television by placing two attached mirrors about 2 mm thick each for the screen before installing the LCD backlight unit. This television features a HD quality picture, a 120Hz drive, and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. Chang Teh-suk, a representative for Samsung Electronics' LCD Department, stated, "This LCD panel product will start a trend of slim television products which people will continue to see in the IT market." This product will be displayed on October 28, 2009 at the exhibition FPD International 2009 held in Yokohama, Japan. How slim do you think TVs can get in the future? If the Samsung Needle Slim model here is of any indication, we're probably looking at military-grade paper thin material. This 40" full HD LED backlight TV measures a mere 3mm in thickness, which is simply amazing considering this 120Hz LCD panel comes with a 5,000:1 contrast ratio to boot. It hasn't hit the market just yet, but Samsung ought to do so if they want to boost up their company's profile soon. The Samsung “Needle Slim” is a 40-inch Full HD LED Backlight TV that measures at just 3mm thin. The display features a 120Hz LCD panel and a 5000:1 contrast ratio.
